Lake Garda Long Run 30 Km - Official Rules
Official rules of the 6th Lake Garda Long Run 30 KM.
The limited liability amateur sports company Garda Supersport, with Fidal code TN 530 and registered office in Viale Dante Alighieri 90 in Riva del Garda (Trento), in cooperation with Fidal Provinciale Trento and Fidal Nazionale, has scheduled the 6th Lake Garda Long Run (distance: 30 Km) for the 16th of October, 2016.
The run is open to both male and female athletes who are at least 20 years of age before 16.10.2016 (as concerns athletes registered with a FIDAL affiliate) and age 20 (as concerns athletes competing in the run with a RUNCARD).
Athletes of Italian nationality must prove they are registered members of Fidal or exhibit their Runcard when signing up for the run.
Italian athletes and foreign athletes who are not registered members of a Fidal affiliate or who are not registered members of a foreign Light Athletics Federation affiliated with IAAF are required to provide copy of their medical certificate qualifying them to practice competitive sports (light athletics) when signing up for the run.
Italian and foreign athletes or athletes who are not registered members of the aforementioned associations are nonetheless eligible to participate in the run by applying for a FIDAL RUNCARD at a price of Euro 30 (thirty) for Italian and resident foreign athletes and Euro 15 (fifteen) for non-resident foreign athletes. The fee must be paid directly when picking up the racing bib at the special stand set up by FIDAL within the Garda Supersport Village located in the Colonia Pavese Park in Torbole sul Garda.
The Organising Committee reserves the right to make changes to the registration procedures and prices of the Fidal daily card for unregistered athletes based on the guidelines provided by Fidal.
When signing up for the run, athletes who do not reside and are not registered in Italy must provide copy of a medical certificate issued in compliance with the health protection laws applicable in their country and qualifying them to practice competitive sports (light athletics).
Athletes are required to exhibit a valid piece of ID when they collect the racing bib.
Registration for the race will close on Friday, October 12, 2016 at 12.00 noon.

Registration fee refund policy
Registration fees are not refundable under any circumstances. If the registered athlete was unable to take part in the event, the Organisation may offer the following alternatives:
1) transfer to another athlete by calling or writing directly to the Organisation at (+39) 041 990320 by and no later than 12.10.2016, or to the Organising Committee.
2) registration valid for the 2017 run if confirmed by no later than 12.10.2016.
If any of the above apply, contact the Secretariat at (+39) 041 990320 directly and the staff will provide you with all the details for the transfer/postponement.
Please note that any kind of change implies a surcharge for processing fees of Euro 10.00.
The registration fee includes:
- racing bib;
- insurance and medical care;
- refreshments along the way;
- transport of clothing from the start to the finish line (with bag provided by the Organisation);
- after the race, transport by boat from Torbole sul Garda to Malcesine (provided athletes are wearing the identification bracelet);
- race kit;
- jersey for the event;
- card or bracelet for all participating athletes to use the Navigarda ferryboat service free of charge on October 15 and 16, 2016;
- participation medal.
Racing bib numbers
The first numbers assigned to athletes at the starting line will be distributed by the Organisation to the top runners. The racing bibs will be marked with an appropriate number and colour that will match the starting grid. The number must also be attached on the athlete’s jersey, in front and in a visible place. Under no circumstances can athletes conceal the writings (under penalty of disqualification).

Procedure to follow when collecting your racing bib and race kit.
We remind all athletes that in order to pick up their race kit and racing bib, they will be asked to hand over the letter of confirmation of registration, which Timing Data Service will send directly to all registered athletes in the days leading up to the event.
The confirmation letter must be dated and signed by the participant.
Athletes who are unable to collect their racing bib may have another person do so on their behalf by filling out a special printed form that will be sent with the confirmation of registration, and enclosing a copy of their identity card.
When collecting the racing bib, athletes who have not yet done so are required to exhibit their Fidal card (or the card of of another Federation or organisation) and to deliver a copy of the medical certificate entitling them to compete in light athletics, as mentioned in the section on the participation requirements.
Collection of personal clothing.
The Organisation will provide transportation service to all participating athletes for their clothing.
Please bear in mind that the staff in charge of transportation can only collect the bags provided by the Organisation, which are included in the race kit.
These bags will be marked with the athlete’s racing bib number so as to facilitate re-delivery of the clothing. In fact, re-delivery will be carried out only after checking the racing bib number. We strongly advise against placing valuables in the bag. The Organisation, while providing a professional service for transportation, accepts no responsibility for any lost items and will not grant a refund.
The schedules for collecting the clothing will be published subsequently on the website and in any case will be announced when delivering the race kit.
The Lake Garda Long Run 30 km is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. from Malcesine. All athletes must show up at the starting line by and no later than 8:15 a.m. Access to the starting line will be allowed from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. All athletes must in any case transit under the archway after the starting line or they will not be detected by the timing system and will therefore not be included in the final rankings.
Please be informed that the Organisation has arranged changing rooms, bathrooms and a parking area near the starting line.
Those wishing to reach the starting line on their own vehicle must be aware that the road between Torbole and Malcesine will be closed at 7:45 a.m.
The ferry Brennero that can accommodate up to 1,000 persons will leave on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. from the pier in Torbole sul Garda (finish line) with destination Malcesine (starting line).
The ferry is free of charge and only available to registered athletes in possession of either the bracelet (worn on their wrist) handed out with the racing bib or the registration confirmation letter, which athletes must exhibit to staff on site.
Accompanying passengers will not be allowed on board, not even for a fee.
We kindly ask participants to park their vehicles in the free parking spaces available and to arrive at the boarding dock on time.
The timing system used for the run meets the requirements of the Fidal and Iaaf rules and the timing and processing of the data and final rakings will be made with the TDS system using a disposable chip. Please note that athletes who are not wearing the chip will not be timed and therefore will not be included in the final rankings.
The team of judges will disqualify athletes who do not transit under the metring points located along the track.
Time limit of the Long Run: 4:00 a.m.
After this time, the Organisation cannot guarantee the complete closing of the race course and athletes will be required to follow the rules of the highway code.
A late runners (“broom”) service will be provided to close the race and to assist athletes coming in last
Medical assistance and refreshments
Refreshments with water and vitamin supplements will be handed out to athletes every 5 km, a sponging service from Km 12.5 every 5 Km. Medical assistance is ensured by motorcycles with doctor on board along the track.
Medical staff with ambulances to face any type of emergency will be on site at km 10, 20, and 30 and at the start/finish line.
Athletes who choose to retire from the run will be accompanied to the nearest boarding point and if possible to the finish line.
Toilets – showers – changing rooms.
Toilets will be available to athletes both at the start and finish line.
Showers and changing rooms will be available at the start line.
The finish line is located on the beach of Torbole (Trento), Piazza Lietzman. After the finish line, all athletes will be required to hand in their chip and head to the clothing collection point.
A final refreshment will also be available to athletes after the finish line in a clearly designated area.
Athletes can return to Malcesine at any time of day with any Navigarda ferry simply by exhibiting the bracelet worn during the run and that came included in the race kit.
Results and prizes.
The official times will be posted on the website www.lakegardamarathon.com and http://www.tds-live.com.
Prizes will be awarded to the first 5 men and the first 5 women in the overall standings and in any case, as required by FIDAL rules, at least 25% of the prize money will be awarded to Italian athletes (art. 7 para. 6 Handbook 2013).
1 Euro per participating athlete will be devolved as charity to the Associazione Trentina per la Medicina Genomica ONLUS (Trentino Non-Profit Association for genomic medicine).
Persons in possession of a RUNCARD will all be included in the final rankings, but will not be eligible for cash prizes (or other prizes such as generic value coupons, bonuses, salaries, refunds of any kind of expenses).
All payments will be made by and no later than 31.03.2017 and will be liable to tax charges based on Italian law.
Any claims must be filed in writing and submitted to the G.A. within 30 minutes from when the final rankings are officially announced and will entail a claim filing fee of Euro 100.00, refundable if the claim is accepted.
Athletes are not allowed to use rackets or bring animals to the run.
The event may be cancelled in case of bad weather or force majeure or anyhow for causes not attributable to the Organising Committee.
The Organisation reserves the right to modify these rules at any time, if such changes are necessary to ensure a better organisation of the event.
For all matters not discussed in these rules, please refer to the specific regulations in force.
By participating in the Lake Garda Long Run 30 km through any of the accepted registration methods (fax, mail, online registration), the participant declares to know and accept the rules of the event, which can be found on www.lakegardamarathon.com in PDF format under the section “Rules”. The participant also declares to be at least 20 years old on the date of October 16, 2016 (or to be 20 years old as concerns athletes participating with a RUNCARD), to comply with the laws on health protection in sports applicable in Italy, and to accept the liability statement below in all its parts.
Liability statement text
I hereby confirm that I am aware and acknowledge that participating in the run scheduled on October 16, 2016 could be dangerous to my health. I acknowledge that I should not sign up and participate in the run if physically unfit to do so and especially if not trained athletically.
By submitting my application, I assume all responsibility for risks involved with my participation in this event, including any injuries possibly suffered to reach or return from the place of the event. I hereby fully exempt the event organisers, sponsors, volunteer groups and any other public or private entity involved in the organisation of the event, and am aware that any fact or claim caused by negligence of the aforesaid parties cannot be attributed to the Organisation.
Pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30.06.2003 (Consolidated Privacy Law), the Organisation informs participants that the personal data collected will be used solely to prepare the list of participants and the rankings and for filing purposes. The Organisation or its partners may also use the data to send out informational material.
By signing up for the run, the participant authorises the Organisation to use the images to promote the event on all national and international media.
